GIRAFA SOLAR
Girafa solar is a project by the Carlos Morgado Foundation, MWE, and the Nykani Mavoko Association, financed by the Irish embassy in Mozambique, which allows residents of the locality of Mangunze, to charge their cell phones, as well as enjoy the space to gather, listen to music, information, and discuss district and country issues.
Girafa Solar – Mangunze is located in the district of Chongoene, in the province of Gaza. The local population does not have access to the national energy grid, but Girafa Solar 'brought life' to Mangunze.
The system, installed in the precincts of the Catholic Church, São Benedito de Mangunze Mission, allows the use of photovoltaic solar energy that feeds a technical cabinet, under the cover of the structure, which offers 10 cell phone charging sockets and a radio. All other systems are installed to support and protect the electrical assembly and its users.
