MOZAMBIQUE WOMEN OF ENERGY

Girafa solar is a project by the Carlos Morgado Foundation, MWE,  and the Nykani Mavoko Association, financed by the Irish embassy in Mozambique, which allows residents of the locality of Mangunze, to charge their cell phones, as well as enjoy the space to gather, listen to music, information, and discuss district and country issues.

Girafa Solar – Mangunze is located in the district of Chongoene, in the province of Gaza. The local population does not have access to the national energy grid, but Girafa Solar 'brought life' to Mangunze.

The system, installed in the precincts of the Catholic Church, São Benedito de Mangunze Mission, allows the use of photovoltaic solar energy that feeds a technical cabinet, under the cover of the structure, which offers 10 cell phone charging sockets and a radio. All other systems are installed to support and protect the electrical assembly and its users.

MAKOBO is a collaborative platform with a mission to provide and promote services aiming to improve welfare for disadvantaged groups. Through individual and corporate support, continuous effective planning, Makobo searches for a sustainable way to contribute to the social, cultural, and economic development of the country. The mission is to provide and promote services aimed at self-sufficiency of disadvantaged groups by maximizing the skills of individuals equipping them with livelihood skills, enabling them to contribute to the economic, social, and cultural development of their community and country. The ultimate vision through these initiatives is to be the preferred platform for the development and sustained management of effective actions to support disadvantaged groups, within the framework of the implementation of Institutional Policies of Social Responsibility.

The Energized Saga is an MWE Project launched to influence the future makers of Mozambique through a series of web presentation that can EMPOWER this generation to build their careers and take charge of their future. MWE is a platform where women can work together and bring their energy to identify areas of action and empowerment. They contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 5 & 7: Gender Equality and Affordable and Clean energy for all.

MWE aims to change to change the Narrative of Mozambique and contribute to the sustainable development of our country working to make sure that everyone has access to energy accessible reliable affordable modern and clean energy. Doyenne Initiative is an international nonprofit organization focused on cultivating female experts to take on leadership roles in industry, education, government and beyond. 

Doyenne helps capable, career-driven women become experts in specialized fields through scholarships for graduate level education, work experience and mentorship.
